How can this site be offer free hosting and other services?

Q: I just purchased a sample cd, how do I download it?

A: We must first verify that the payment went through. Once that is verified you will receive 1 or 2 emails with all the details on how to download. We try to check on these about 1x per hour. If you have any questions regarding this please contact mike at yourcodes.com

Q: How do I get my tracks on Your Beats Radio?

A: Radio tracks are randomly selected from our artist database. So the first thing to do is sign up for a free account. As a member / artist you can upload up to 25 MP3's.

Q: Is your free MP3 hosting really free?

A: No.. just joking. Yes its 100% Free.

Q: How do I get respect? Why is my forum rank "Tha New Kid"?

A: You get respect or forum rank by posting questions, answers, tracks, games, videos, or any other things of interest in the forum. To get the details on forum rank Click Here

Q: Is there a limit to the number or tracks I upload in the forum?

A: Nope.. upload as many as you want. The forum area unlike the artist page has no limits except the 5MB per file setting. The tracks from the forum however do not stay in one place, and are not streamed on the radio. That is reserved for tracks on your "Artist" page only.

Q: Why can't I open and play the files I Downloaded?

A: There is a good chance that they are compressed files, and you need to download and install WinRar Free. We compress our files so that they download faster and in one unit. Instead of downloading 15 files in 20minutes compression allows you to download just one and in about 1/2 the time.

Q:Why are the tracks on my artist page are playing at hyperspeed!?

A: This is a not to common error caused by unreadable MP3 formats. Flash can only read and play

Safe formats: Files encoded using 'standard' MP3 format at CONSTANT bit rate will normally play, provided the sample rate is a multiple of 44.1kHz - other 'interpolating' sample rates cause Flash Player to speed up the playback. Sample rates of 96000, 44100, 22050 and 11025 samples/second at 8, 16 and 32 bit depth will all work fine.

Unsafe formats: Encoding MP3s in VARIABLE BIT RATE will always lead to problems. Flash Player cannot stream VBR files properly, and will either completely ignore them or play back silence. The player also has serious problems with 'fake MP3s' - files wrapped in an MP3 container but with the audio data encoded by some non-standard system. Some audio codecs produced by Microsoft allow the creation of an MP3 with Microsoft's own ACM audio compression, and Flash Player falls over laughing at those.

Q: Why does my track not play when uploaded in the forum? It says 0 KB.

A: We have a limit on our upload size. That limit is 5MB. A file over 5MB will be uploaded, whenever it is done it will be checked for size. If over 5MB it will be deleted. That's why it doesn't play and is 0KB. The best thing to do in this situation is to either lower the resolution of the track or make it shorter. To see how large your track is before you upload it right click the file and select properties. (This method only works in windows)

Q: How can this site be offer free hosting and other services?

A: We make money off of our advertisements, as well as our sample cd sales. These 2 combined with help from our many members and moderators means we don't have to sell memberships.
